Start of a Blog, 1st Real Topic of Discussion: Blu-Ray

That's right im self indulgent enough to start a blog. wow how low can i go? lets find out! In case your wondering i posted a few blog posts i made earlier for a class but thought they were interesting enough to post into this one as well. Enjoy reading if you so choose...

I would like to bring into discussion of the Era of Blu-ray discs and the 1080i/p universe that we are evolving into to. I do not own a Blu-ray player nor do i own a Playstation 3. I tend not to buy any sort of DVD's unless i see them worth it or especially supporting the indie movies and games. I love Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and love the director Edgar Wright. Shaun of the dead remains one of the top movies of all time on my list....

So i went to Bestbuy and made my way to the DVD aisle, which to my surprise has been significantly reduced in size. The Blu-ray section taking over half the store section. Now i know Blu-Ray is great at its high resolution but seriously? i couldn't find the regular DVD copy of Scott Pilgrim anywhere. I look one aisle over and in all its glory stands the Blu-Ray copy called "Level up Edition" (mind you is by far the coolest title for a collectors edition) Looking at this It has the Blu-Ray, DVD AND and digital copy for your iPod or computer. Brilliant. granted i had already known that they made these combo packs like these but this is the future folks.

The main argument of this post is that Blu-Rays ultimate goal is to take DVD off the shelves and replace it. This is the best way to do it. Combine all the Blu-Ray's with there DVD counterparts. I notice there are still ALOT of titles that don't do this and it bugs me to death. If everyone bought this combo packs with the DVD and still didn't have there Blu-Ray players or even a high definition tv screen. The combo packs would be there future safe. They would be able to still be up to date once they actually have the TV/player to use them. DVD's cost nothing and doubt it would do anything to the production costs of the company to just include the DVD with it. Just sayin.

Hopefully enjoyed my rant of nonsense. Future rants will include PC video game reviews, life topics, philosophical topics, and much more nonsense.
